S.R.C.A. Dragstip

105.jpg
If you didn't already know, S.R.C.A. Dragstip was the home of the first NHRA Nationals in 1955. Located 2 1/2 miles west of Great Bend, Ks on the old Air Force base, the facility offers the finest racing in the area. With the help of the Sunflower Rod & Custom Association (SRCA) and R.C. Williams, track manager, the dragstrip has undergone a signifcant makeover. With a grant from KDOT, the track was resurfaced in the summer of 2000. The resurfacing included, 300 feet of new concrete, from the water box to 200 feet past the starting line and new asphalt from there to the crossover road. That gives a total length to the track of about 3/4 mile. We also installed a new Compu-Link timing system with 60`,330`,660`and 1000` timers. Scoreboards were installed in 2003. Our track has easy highway access & 500+ concrete parking stalls.
The track is operated by volunteers. Our 2001 & 2002 seasons were a great success. 2003 was an unbelievable year for the track. Our regular races were a HUGE success and the Division 5 Lucas Oil Points race went better than we could have ever dreamed. 2004 plans to be even better.
